Beachgoers and a seabird flank USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) as it approaches the mouth of the port at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division in California for a recent ship groom known as a Combat Systems Assessment Team event. The Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship is named in memory of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, that brought the United States into World War II. The ship is homeported in San Diego and is part of the U.S. Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 1
