KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany - The U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General of U.S. Army Medical Command, Lt. Gen. Mary Izaguirre (center left) and U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Roger Giraud (far right), the 21st Chief of the Army Medical Service Corps and Commanding General of Medical Readiness Command, Europe, celebrated the 108th birthday of the Army Medical Service Corps with a cake cutting held June 30 at Rhine Ordnance Barracks in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Also taking part in the event were U.S. Army Col. Tracy Michael (center), commander of the 68th Theater Medical Command, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Deanna Hughes (far left) and 1st Lt. Taylor Cadenhead (right center). The U.S. Army Medical Service Corps consists of four multi-functional areas comprised of twenty-three areas of concentration, and four Additional Skill Identifiers. Medical Service Corps officers serve within the areas of Administrative Health Services, Medical Allied Sciences, Preventive Medicine Sciences, Behavioral Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Optometry, Podiatry, Laboratory Sciences, Aeromedical Evacuation and as Health Services Maintenance Technicians. The Medical Service Corps is the most diverse branch of the U.S. Army.
