U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Joaquin A. Torresgodinez, a motor transport chief with Headquarters and Service Company, Marine Barracks Washington, receives the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for outstanding leadership and service at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., June 26, 2025. From June 2024 to June 2025, Torresgodinez demonstrated exceptional leadership supporting major events such as former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral and the 2025 presidential inauguration. He oversaw maintenance for 40 vehicles valued at more than two million dollars, including towing, repairs, and upkeep. He also managed the licensing program, issuing 37 licenses and training 36 Marines through six U-Drive classes. The award recognizes his dedication to mission readiness and professional excellence.
