As we approach the 250th birthday of the United States Army, we reflect on the legacy of service, sacrifice and dedication of our Soldiers. “I was inspired to join the Army by my family members who served before me, particularly my uncle,” said U.S. Army Spc. Richneza Luna, a wheeled vehicle mechanic assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Armored Division. “He showed me how the Army can provide for your family and give you a purposeful life when you come from humble beginnings.”
Luna remains dedicated to her service, striving to advance through the ranks while setting a positive example for her family and community to show that the Army offers opportunities that are not easily accessible.
“Now that I’m in the Army, I have great leaders who help and motivate me to be a better person and Soldier,” said Luna. “I want to be able to provide that leadership and give the opportunities that my leadership gives me.” (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Jacob Suess)
