Staff Sgt. Ramon Aponte and Sgt. James Jones with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Africa 13 taught drill movements to Sigonella Middle and High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets to prepare them for the Annual European Drill Competition, Belgium, March 2, 2013. Aponte, SP-MAGTF Africa 13 training chief from Jersey City, N.J., and Jones, a reconnaissance Marine from Napa, Calif., volunteered to help teach the cadets drill movements the month leading up to the competition. The Marines also traveled with the team to Belgium to assist them during the competition. More than 150 cadets from nine European Department of Defense schools competed at the day-long event. The competition areas were regulation drill, color guard and rifle and saber exhibition. The Sigonella JROTC placed second in the inspection category and fourth in the color guard category.
