Lance Cpl. Shannon R. Bandy, an aircraft rescue and firefighting specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, hangs on to a P-19 crash fire rescue vehicle parked out on the flight line at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Friday. Bandy said she doesn’t take being a firefighter lightly. “From boot camp on, we are taught to take care of the Marines beside you,” she said. “This job gives me the responsibility of saving lives. If I needed to, in an instant I would give up my life to save one of my brothers or sisters to my left and right.”
