Marine veteran Kyle Reid, native of Chinook, MT., practices his streamline and dolphin kick during a 50-meter swim while practicing for the 2013 Marine Corps Trials at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 27, 2013. Reid was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder after a combat deployment to Afghanistan. “I came to the trials because I’ve always loved sports,” Reid said. “It feels nice to be able to get back into competition.” Reid also added, “I love you mom!” The Trials is an opportunity for wounded Marines, veterans and allies to compete in wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, track and field, swimming, archery and shooting. The top 50 athletes will go on to compete against wounded warriors from the other branches of military service at the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., in May.
