Hawkins, 81st Readiness Division, presented a seminar on Defense Support of Civil Authorities May 18, 2024, for the "Warrior Medics" assigned to the Army Reserve Medical Command's Pinellas Park, Fla., based Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, as the command prepares for the June 1 start of Atlantic hurricane season. The National Hurricane Center named 20 storms in 2023 season; seven became hurricanes, including Hurricane Idalia, a Category 3 hurricane, which made landfall Aug. 30, 2023, at Florida's northeast coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
