3. U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class William Wahl, left, is welcomed back from his ERSS deployment by NMRTC Great Lakes Commanding Officer Capt. Chad McKenzie and Cmdr. John Ruggero at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) May 2, 2024. ERSS Team 1 will return to work at the John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital in Chicago, finishing out three-year deployable orders. The Navy and Cook County Health partnership allows the team members to sustain their skills, continue to work as trauma team, and be ready for additional deployment when called upon until the conclusion of their orders. An ERSS team is comprised of a General Surgeon, an Emergency Medicine Physician, a Physician Assistant, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a Critical Care or Emergency Room Nurse, a Respiratory Therapy Technician, and a Surgical Technician.
