Cork, a black Lab facility dog at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, gets a hug from his handler, Kim Kobayashi Elliott, a recreation therapist at NMCSD. Cork is an honorary enlistee into the U.S. Navy, with a rank of Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class. Elliott visited Cork at a local veterinarian after he had emergency bladder stone surgery.
