As the sun sets over the Joint Training Center in Zarqa, Jordan a long line of service members from multiple nations starts to make their way in mile one of the Norweigan Ruck March. The timed event is a test of endurance as participants must complete 18.6 miles in four and a half hours to six hours depending on age and gender. It is an historic event that traces its roots back to World War I as a way to boost morale and esprit de corps.
