Fern Chan, a nationally certified instructor in mental health care and director of continuing and professional studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, speaks with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport employees about the stigmas of mental health on May 9, 2023. The presentation, hosted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, was in recognition of May’s Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. Chan urged the workforce to have difficult conversations and to listen to people without judgment.
