The USCGC Eagle (WIX 327) is moored to the pier, April 22, 2023, in Ponta Delgada, Azores. Eagle conducted a four-month summer deployment to teach practical seamanship skills to officer candidates from the U.S. Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Corps, foreign military personnel, and shared best practices with sailing organization Tall Ships America, while cadets and crew facilitated diplomatic engagements with U.S. allies in Northern Europe, the Portuguese archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, and Bermuda.
