Created by CAPT David Bitonti, the Facility Dogs Program began in 2007 as a pilot, with the hopes of providing extraordinary experiences to patients and staff at Walter Reed. Through canine companionship, the program also provides an opportunity for our volunteer staff handlers to create a unique bonding experience for wounded warriors, veterans, active-duty military, and their families.
