This For tRiley Friday we visit the Dog Park on Main Post. In the post's early days this area was used for a hay storage area as storing the hay in stables not only took up valuable space but was also a fire hazard. In 1957, the facility was known as the Buffalo Corral as Fort Riley Commander Maj. Gen. David Buchanan decided buffalo should take up residence here as they had in the past. In the early 2000's, after sitting vacant for some time, the area was repurposed as the Dog Park. The facility is free to use and has a separate area for smaller dogs.
