Staff Sgt. Nicholas Schott, assigned with 2nd Battalion, 130 Field Artillery Regiment, talks with other M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System section chiefs and leadership during Juniper Oak, at Camp Shivta, Israel, Jan. 23, 2023. As a section chief, Schott is responsible for the training and proficiency of his section, the operational readiness of his equipment, and the safe firing of the HIMARS. Juniper Oak is an exercise that strengthens collective U.S. and Israeli readiness and improves the interoperability of both forces, thereby contributing to regional stability. According to U.S. Central Command, 6,400 U.S. troops and more than 1,500 Israeli troops trained side by side making it the largest U.S. and Israel partnered exercise in history.
