Park ranger Mike Axton, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Sidney Lanier, gathers water samples from each of the 18 Corps-owned parks.
Mike then delivers the samples to a local lab, where they are tested for levels concerning phosphates, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, E. coli, and more.
Testing the water is just one of many ways our rangers work hard every day to ensure our recreational areas are safe for the public.
