Personnel from Army Criminal Investigation Division's Cyber Directorate attended an International Crimes Against Children training event at Fort Benning, Georgia, Dec. 12-16. Supervisory Special Agent Mike Roelofs of the Cyber Field Office-East and Special Agent Dave Shaver of the Digital Forensics Research Branch partnered with “Hope” doTERRA Healing Hands with the purpose of enhancing CID’s investigative knowledge and effectiveness in responding to technology-facilitated crimes targeting children. More than 30 CID personnel attended from nine field offices.
The training provided skills and knowledge tailored specifically for Army CID Agents conducting investigative activities involving proactive child exploitation operations, working National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTip Reports, and receiving Peer-to-Peer investigative referrals. The object of the training was to teach tactics, techniques, and protocols designed to prevent online predatory behavior targeting U.S. Army families around the globe. The course was focused on methodologies used to investigate ICAC-related offenses including several various online social media and forensic platforms and combating the issues with vigilante predator groups.
