SAN DIEGO (Feb. 22, 2013) – Commander, Navy Medicine West Rear Adm. C. Forrest Faison III presents Lt. Stephanie L. Burleson, Nurse Corps, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal during an awards ceremony at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). Burleson was awarded the medal for her selection and the Junior Officer of the Quarter (JOQ) from October 2012 to January 2013. As Orthopaedics department division officer, she was instrumental in making personnel management decisions during a time of staffing shortages to ensure continued delivery of quality care and helped increase physician assistant productivity by 30 percent. This is the first presentation of the JOQ award at NMCSD which was begun to honor outstanding professional achievement of junior officers throughout the command.
