Capt. Mellgard, a Marine Security Guard Officer with Region 1 Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal this past June for being selected as the MSGO of the Year for 2021. She was awarded by the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group Commanding Officer, Col. Parella, and was presented the MSGO of the Year statue by USAA Representative Jennifer Kyung.
