221012-N-YQ181-1041 PHILIPPINE SEA (Oct. 12, 2022) Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 3rd Class Richard Buckmon III, from Millville, New Jersey, assigned to the Shadowhawks of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 141, poses for a photo in the VAQ 141 equipment shop aboard the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan, in the Philippine Sea, Oct. 12. The Shadowhawks pilot EA-18G Growlers and their primary role is to disrupt the ability to communicate between units in combat through the use of electronic warfare. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
