Staff Sgt. Dejuan Watts, 425th Air Base Squadron client systems supervisor, poses for a “Titan Tuesday” photo in the Izmir Consolidated Center in Izmir, Turkey, Oct. 13, 2022. Watts provides the U.S. Air Force and Army personal at the ICC with direct computer support. The 425th ABS provides administrative and mission support for the NATO Allied Land Command Headquarters as well as six other associate units operating in Izmir.
Watts has been with the 425th ABS for nearly two years and is serving in Turkey for the second time. He was stationed at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, on a short tour from 2018 to 2019. After his tour in Izmir, Watts will head back stateside to Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.
Watts enjoys how close-knit his current unit is, as they’ve created a sense of family with each other while sharing the unique experience of living in the Turkish community. Since being in Turkey, Watts has traveled throughout the country and visited many of its historical sites and beaches. During his off time, he enjoys playing basketball, going to the gym, and collecting comic books. Watts is also currently studying for a Cisco Certified Networks Associate certification that he hopes to have completed by summertime.
“For those who want to be assigned here, always stay on the lookout for the assignment,” said Watts. “This is far and away the best assignment I’ve been to, and it’s not one to miss out on. If you just got here, don’t be afraid to venture out and really live among the people here. You’ll have a great time.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Joshua T. Crossman)
