Medium Endurance Cutter Tampa sits high and dry at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Md. The cutter underwent a nine-month systems refurbishment and a comprehensive integrated logistic overhaul. Tampa is homeported in Portsmouth, Va. It normally deploys on 45- to 60-day patrols followed by similar periods in port. The ship is away from home an average of 185 days a year. Its missions include counter drug operations, migrant interdiction, homeland security, and fisheries law enforcement.
