A Soldier prepares to draw blood from Col. James Watts, Medical Department Activity - Alaska commander August 26 as part of the Arctic Thunder Blood Drive in support of the Armed Services Blood Program. During the three day event held at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, 755 volunteers donated a total of 705 total units of blood. Additionally, 13 personnel from MEDDAC-AK received training on blood donor operations and packing specimens for shipment, ensuring they are trained on tasks that will save lives in a deployed environment.
