Officers and senior enlisted with 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), view the route of attack the river gunboats took in their assault on Fort Donelson, Sept. 28. During the Civil War the river system was used to transport troops and supplies which left both sides fighting for control of the waterway.
