Michael Steffen, commandant, Naval District Washington (NDW), signed a proclamation in honor of Gold Star Awareness Month during a town hall at NDW headquarters on board the historic Washington Navy Yard on May 12th, 2022. The Navy Gold Star Program provides support to surviving family members of Sailors who died while on active duty, regardless of your loved one's military branch, location, or manner of death.
