Astronaut James D. van Hoften training in the Manned Maneuvering Units (MMU) simulator at the Martin Marietta facility in Denver. Dr. van Hoften is equipped with the trunion pin attachment device (TPAD), a special tool for locking onto the Solar Maximum Mission Satellite (SMMS).
