Gen. David H. Berger, the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, spends time with Marine Forces Reserve leadership during a meeting at Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans, Jan. 26, 2022. During the visit, Berger listened to and discussed ideas of how to increase retention of the Total Force by increasing the visibility of the Direct Affiliation Program and streamlining that process by which active duty Marines can transition into the Marine Corps Reserve. Additionally, MARFORRES leadership laid out the benefits of leveraging command teams and career planners to retain active duty talent via a transition to the Reserve, and how harnessing the unique talent resident within MARFORRES back into the Active Component, are critical enablers for maturing the Marine Corps Total Force as required to fight and win the battles of the future.
