210809-N-SG189-1050 NORFOLK, Va. (Aug 9, 2021) Students don full firefighting garb before entering the realistic simulations at Farrier Firefighting School as part of their learning to trust the gear in high stress scenarios. The school hosts week-long firefighting and damage control training courses for service members and foreign personnel, seeing as many as 300 to 500 students per week. It is dedicated to and named after Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Gerald W. Farrier, who was one of the first Sailors to die aboard USS Forrestal (CV-59).
