Bands of smoke are seen in the marine layer as the sun sets, Sept. 23, 2021, in Huntington Beach, California. According the the National Weather Service, smoke from the Windy Fire and KNP Complex Fire in Central California is causing haze throughout Southern California. Widespread drift smoke prompted the South Coast Air Quality Management District to issue a special air quality advisory through Sept. 24 due to elevated air quality levels for parts of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
