The Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Lewis and Clark (T-AKE 1) transits off the bow of amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) prior to a replenishment-at-sea. Kearsarge is on a scheduled deployment in support of maritime operations. Coalition forces conduct maritime operations under international maritime conventions to ensure security and safety in international waters so that all commercial shipping can operate freely while transiting the region.
