Parachute testing at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) dates back to the founding of the Airborne Test Force in 1958: the original team is seen here. Army test jumpers are few in number and highly skilled, capable of preparing personnel and cargo parachutes and loads for a wide variety of systems. Additionally, jumping out of airplanes with new and emerging parachute system technologies is a routine part of the job. Today, YPG is home to all manner of parachute testing, with spacious and instrumented ranges large enough to accommodate even the world’s largest cargo parachutes.
