U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jehudi Rodriguez, and his military working dog (MWD), Sisi, 3rd Law Enforcement (LE) Battalion, III MEF Information Group (MIG), prepare for their travels on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 17, 2021. Rodriguez is a Brownsville, Texas native.

From fast-roping to deploying with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Rodriguez and MWD-Sisi built an inseparable bond. “Sisi and I have become so attached over the last few years, so I’m adopting her.”

Rodriguez spoke fondly of a time spent in the field with Sisi, where they used each other for warmth on a cold night. “She had only been with me for several months, and that was the first time she ever cuddled with me. After that, the rapport came quicker during training.
I am taking 30 days of leave so I can help her transition smoothly.”

After Rodriguez goes on leave and leaves Sisi with his family, he plans to return to Okinawa with goals to become an MWD handler with Marine Forces Special Operations Command. “I want to prove to myself that I can do things that I never knew I was capable of.”

During their time attached to 3rd LE, the military working dogs provided III Marine Expeditionary Force with unmatched deterrence, detection, and threat-engagement capabilities. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Sarah Marshall)
