Tech. Sgt. Wilfredo Martinez, a crew chief and Tech. Sgt. PJ Peters, jets propulsion, both reservists assigned to the 459th Air Refueling Wing, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, conduct a preflight maintenance inspection on a U.S. Air Force Reserve KC-135 Stratotanker at Rovaniemi Air Base, Finland, during Arctic Challenge Exercise 2021, June 15. Maintainers are a trained and dedicated force providing safe, reliable maintenance and ensuring mission capable aircraft ready to provide air-to-air refueling to multinational fighter aircraft during ACE 21, which allows the fighters to focus on offensive and defensive scenarios consisting of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions in the Nordic countries of Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Coordination with Arctic allies, regional partners, and the Joint Force is critical to ensuring stability in the region. Regularly scheduled exercises like Arctic Challenge provide opportunities to enhance interoperability and strengthen partnerships. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Paul Abacon)
