Wilfredo Martinez, a crew chief assigned to the 459th Air Refueling Wing, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, verifies the amount of fuel given to a U.S. Air Force Reserve KC-135 Stratotanker at Rovaniemi Air Base, Finland, during Arctic Challenge Exercise 2021, June 15. The Finnish refuel the aircraft prior to each day’s refueling mission. ACE 21 is a joint, multinational exercise that involves a combination of flight operations, and includes participation from Denmark, Finland, Germany, NATO, The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and the U.K. The exercise took place in Sweden, Finland and Norway and on live firing locations Vidsel Live Firing Range, Sweden and Setermoen Live Firing Range, Norway, and provided participants the opportunity to plan, execute and evaluate Large Force Employments in a multinational air operation.
