Finnish personnel refuel a U.S. Air Force Reserve KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 459th Air Refueling Wing, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, at Rovaniemi Air Base, Finland, during Arctic Challenge Exercise 2021, June 15. The Finnish provided ramp and building space for the U.S. Air Force Reserve unit and prepared the daily flight plan to help execute each day’s mission. ACE 21 is a joint, multinational exercise to train units in the orchestration and conduct of air operations, to include execution of tactics and command and control procedures and interoperability. Participation in reoccurring multinational exercises like ACE 21 enhances our professional relationships and improves overall coordination with allies and partner militaries during times of crisis.
