Col. Karin Watson, garrison commander, cuts the ribbon to celebrate the completion of an electrical substation located off of Sisisky Boulevard June 9. She was joined by members of her staff and those from Dominion Energy, a state utility provider and project partner. The occasion marked the end of a years-long process requiring persistence and resolve, said Watson. “There’s a lot of hard work and effort that goes into a project like this,” she remarked, thanking those who were instrumental in the substation’s planning, design and construction. The substation will reduce electrical outages for those who live and work on the installation. It replaced a structure built in 1959.
