DEFENDER-Europe 21 is a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year, more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Region. 53rd BSB is currently in Albania conducting their annual training with Albanias during DEFENDER-Europe 21.
“We are trying to improve our relations with our foreign nations and get some good training in with the Albanians,” said Denham-Nelson.
Denham-Nelson has been in the army for 2 years and this is her first time overseas as well as conducting training with partnering nations and allies.
Denham-Nelson said, “It’s been really cool being here and I am glad that I got to come to this country and experience it with my unit.”
