U.S. Army 1st Lt. Amber Leroy, a nurse assigned to the 62nd Medical Brigade (MED BDE), poses for a photo after a midday rush in the screening area of the Yakima Community Vaccination Center (CVC), in Yakima, Washington. Leroy, the Officer in Charge, oversees the medics and nurses at the screening area to ensure a quick and easy process for Yakima community members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Despite being a nurse in the Army, Leroy is getting her first encounter with Army medics. “Since I work in a hospital, I work with a lot of Airmen medics and I’ve enjoyed working with Army medics for the first time in my career,” said Leroy. “Just getting to know them, their skills and their personalities.”
Soldiers assigned to 62nd MED BDE deployed from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, in support of the continued Department of Defense COVID response operations to help communities in need. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
