Army 2nd Lt. Jamie Wise, assigned to Alpha Company, Troop Command at Walter Reed Hospital, Md., discusses her time so far on mission at the Wisconsin Center COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center in Milwaukee, April 13, 2021. Wise is a recently commissioned ROTC graduate from the University of Louisville and began active duty in July 2020. She is originally from Belvedere, Ill., a small town only an hour south of where she is currently assigned in Wisconsin. Wise is learning a lot during her first real world mission including the logistics of a large scale operation. “I’ve honestly found it pretty interesting kind of how this is run and how well it has been run”, she says. “This is a massive operation and I feel like for the most part it runs fairly smoothly most of the time.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
