A Marine uses the 3D Warfighter Augmented Reality (WAR) trainer during a demo at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 3D WAR is one of two different Office of Naval Research-sponsored systems designed to make it easier for Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and Fire Support Marines to train. Both systems—3D WAR and JTAC Virtual Trainer—come in portable kits and are simple to carry. They use sophisticated, video game-style virtual- and augmented-reality software.
