U.S. Air Force Maj. Latanya Austin, a New York City native, and medical officer with the 87th Operations Medical Readiness Squadron stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, arrives in Indiana and begins secondary registration and in-processing section prior to supporting the soon-to-open state-led, federally-supported Community Vaccination Center in Gary, Indiana, April 2, 2021. Maj. Austin, along with the other Airmen arriving, will continue their in-processing in the following days culminating in the support of the CVC where they will administer up to 3,000 vaccinations a day. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
