Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) contractors lift the magnet of a new MRI machine to the second floor, where it will be installed in one of three new MRI machines in the radiology department. The new MRI machines weigh more than 10,000 pounds, yet are lighter, more accurate, faster and quieter than the previous model, with a wider 70-centimeter aperture, making them more comfortable for patients.
