Pvt. 1st Class Payne thanked his trainers and colleagues from the laboratory at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital during his graduation ceremony on Dec. 4. Payne said the professionals in the lab became like family during the six months of training (phase two) he underwent to become a certified medical laboratory technician. Payne is headed to Fort Detrick, Maryland where he will be doing virology research. He said he is excited to be on the cutting edge of virus analysis and exploration.
