PORT HUENEME, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2020) Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) 1 establish a secure radio connection on a field expedient antenna at Naval Base Ventura County-Point Hueneme, Calif., Nov. 11. EODGRU-1 is currently participating in a Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Integrated Exercise (NIEX), which hones their ability to deploy as a task force in theater to reinforce blue-water lethality in a contested maritime environment. A critical part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Force, Navy EOD helps clear, secure, build, and protect critical assets and waterways in order to execute full spectrum military operations in support of the fleet and Joint Force.
