At the finish line, Marines pass out finisher medals and space blankets to runners finishing the race. The lightweight space blankets helped protect the runners from the wind after being overheated from the run. More than 22,000 participants ran the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon, which is the largest marathon in the world that doesn't offer prize money, earning its nickname, 'The People's Marathon.'
