200911-N-NC885-2031 GULF OF OMAN (Sept. 11, 2020) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Joseph Bell, from Sacramento, Calif., assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104), takes a water break from walking laps around the ship in memory of the firefighters who lost their lives responding to the Sept. 11th attacks. Sterett is part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group and is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
