Army 1st Lt. Jerry Rivera serves as the officer-in-charge for the Maryland National Guard's Joint Unclassified Processing, Analysis and Dissemination (UPAD) team while supporting earthquake recovery efforts in Puerto Rico Jan. 15, 2020, at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Maryland. Marking it as the first real-world response the MDNG’s joint UPAD has performed, the team was able to assist emergency managers in Puerto Rico with about a dozen unclassified intelligence products showing dam and base camp viability assessments, imagery analysis and identification of viable traffic control points with regards to the areas most effected by the earthquakes and aftershocks.
