U.S. Marine Cpl. Narupa D. Dabydeen stands in front of satellite communications equipment on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 6, 2019. Dabydeen, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, is a Satellite Transmission System Operator with 7th Communication Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group.
“We operate and maintain various satellite terminals, making sure they are all mission capable, making sure the Marines know how to make them mission capable, that way we can provide communications throughout the entire MEF.”
Dabydeen recently employed the Secure, Mobile, Anti-Jam, Reliable, Tactical Terminal, better known as the SMART-T, as a low data rate voice circuit while supporting 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. This was a first for 3rd MEB. After being inspired by her sister, who was also a Marine, Dabydeen enlisted into the Marine Corps out of high school. Dabydeen said she enjoys the opportunities III MEF gives here. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Andrew R. Bray)
