In Washington, D.C. Oct. 15, Staff Sgt. Bradley A. Sherman, a trumpeter assigned to the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band at Fort Benning, Georgia, is presented with the Army’s newly established Expert Soldier Badge. Presenting the badge were Army Chief of Staff James C. McConville, left, and Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael A. Grinston, who is pinning the badge on Sherman. Sherman was one of 11 Soldiers who are the first to earn the ESB, which measures a Soldier’s mastery of physical fitness, marksmanship, land navigation and other key soldiering skills. The award ceremony was held during the Eisenhower Luncheon portion of the Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the United States Army. (U.S. Army photo)
